Work We Turn Down
We don't quote a torsion spring replacement, a full door swap, or an opener install off a phone description alone. Springs are sized by door weight and cable drum, and on a lot of the doors we see here - original one-piece units still hanging on side-mounted hardware from houses built in the 1947 to 1990 run that makes up most of the housing stock in this area - the parts don't match anything on a current price sheet. Guessing a number over the phone for that kind of door just means we're wrong in one direction or the other once we're standing in front of it.
We also won't quote a job sight unseen if the panel damage looks structural rather than cosmetic, or if the track is bent enough that we can't tell without measuring whether it's a track swap or a full door. And we don't do work outside the area we actually cover - if you're well past the towns we service, we'll say so rather than send someone out and charge a trip fee for a job we're not going to finish well.
An honest limitation here: if your door is old enough that the manufacturer no longer makes the parts, sometimes replacement is the cheaper and faster answer than trying to keep it running. We'll tell you that on-site rather than string out a repair.
